The International Centre for Life is a pioneering science village in the heart of Newcastle upon Tyne. It is an independent and self-funding charitable trust, which does not receive public funding. Our mission is to ignite and nurture a curiosity in everyone for science, technology, engineering and maths and to encourage the next generation of STEM professionals. Life supports world-class science in the region and makes a positive economic, social and cultural contribution to North East England and its communities. Life Science Centre, which opened in May 2000, is the only purpose-built Science Centre in the north, attracting around 300,000 visitors per year. Life's varied and exciting science engagement programme attracts a broad audience including families, adults, pre-schoolers and teenagers. Life also has one of the biggest schools' science workshop programme of any European museum or Science Centre. Marketing Events Executive 1-year fixed term contract with the possibility of being extended Salary circa £18-£23k per annum (dependent on experience) Full time We are looking for an experienced and dynamic events professional to join the Marketing and Communications team at Life. You will have a good understanding of event planning and operations and, as part of a small team, you will be able to generate (and put into action) imaginative ideas and initiatives to promote Life to its audiences. The role will involve planning and executing events to support marketing and communications (including photo/film shoots, PR stunts and exhibition launch events) and a new programme of special events aimed specifically at adult audiences, which will include evening lectures, debates and adult late events in Life Science Centre. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in a similar events planning role and have strong photography skills, as well as an ability to edit images and video footage and the knowledge to livestream events to a high quality. You will be expected to attend special events, which will usually be held in evenings, so flexibility with working hours is required. Furthermore, in order to fully understand audiences and marketing challenges, the successful candidate will regularly spend time in the science centre during normal opening hours (including a few weekend days per year).
