About the role
This is an exciting time to join the NHS Confederation. We are the only member organisation that represents the whole of the health and care system as the NHS move towards system working in the largest shakeup in recent years. They will engage in a wide range of communications activity, influencing and campaigning on behalf of our members.
The role is part of the external affairs team, which also leads on public affairs and media relations and as such, the postholder will be expected to form part of the press office on-call rota alongside other colleagues, for which an additional allowance will be provided.
This will be a London-based role but as our organisation continues to operate remotely in response to the coronavirus pandemic, we are open to receiving applications from further afield providing that travel to the city will not be a problem in future, subject to business need. Also, as our organisation has an office in Leeds, occasional travel to this site (for example; one day every two months post pandemic) may be required.
You will have worked already in communications, either in a charity or NHS organisation, and have a proven track record in a range of comms disciplines, from achieving good coverage to creating strong member-led content for websites, social channels and bulletins. You will be able to demonstrate a creative flair for communicating complex information in accessible ways, understand how to represent member views and use them effectively to influence decision-makers.
The NHS Confederation is committed to promoting a diverse and inclusive environment for our staff. A place where we can all be ourselves and succeed on merit. We offer a range of inclusive employment policies including family friendly policies and flexible working and we have range of channels to support staff from different backgrounds including our staff networks and a staff forum.
The NHS Confederation is committed to being a flexible employer. We understand the value and benefit to our employees being able to work flexibly to respond to changing circumstances and we want to ensure we do as much as possible to help support a work life balance and take care of employee health and wellbeing.
You will receive an excellent benefits package, including 30 days annual leave, pension scheme, flexible working, salary sacrifice schemes and travel season ticket loans.
