SummaryYou'll play a key part in the Publishing team. You'll be responsible for commissioning and project managing new guidebooks and will assist the Publishing Manager with managing the guidebooks programme. You'll also be responsible for working with our publishing partner to project edit new trade titles. You'll help develop the presence of books and guidebooks on the National Trust's website.
This post is based in Heelis (Swindon) but colleagues have recently been working from home due to Covid-19 restrictions. Once Heelis re-opens we will return to working mainly from the office but there will be an opportunity to explore and agree remote working arrangements which strike the right balance for you and the Trust.

What you'll be doing In this role you'll be:
- Maintaining brand standards, producing first-class guidebooks that properties are proud to sell and that set a standard within the industry
- Assisting the Publishing Manager to manage the new guidebooks programme, including identifying potential new projects
- Working with our external publishing partner and Publishing Manager to project edit new trade books to a set timeframe and high editorial standard
- Working with key stakeholders to ensure new trade titles reflect strategic priorities and consistency of messaging across the Trust
- Taking responsibility for the National Trust Books blog, including commissioning and writing articles, and uploading them using the National Trust's CMS system, with the aim of increasing visibility of books and guidebooks and growing sales
- Answering queries about guidebooks and publishing and representing the publishing team when necessary
- Accountable for your own personal development through the Performance and Development Review process and seeking out opportunities to learn new skills

Who we're looking for To be successful in this role you will have
• Editorial experience in a commercial publishing environment
• The ability to prioritise tasks and manage your own time
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
• Excellent attention to detail
• Demonstrable experience of working with a range of stakeholders and of building successful relationships with a range of people
• Educated to degree level or equivalent relevant experience
