Job Description

Plan International UK is recruiting for an exciting new post in our Communications, Campaigns and UK Programmes directorate.

Plan International UK is a global children's charity. We work to give every child the same chance in life. To achieve this, we work in partnership with our stakeholders and supporters to push through change in practice and policy at local, national and global levels. We are going through an exciting period of transformation and this role is one of three newly created senior positions in the directorate.

As Head of Media and Campaigns, you will bring together three teams - media and PR, partnership communications, and campaigns and youth engagement - to create a high-impact, agile unit. Your team will deliver a real step change in media and campaigns output, generating wider and deeper engagement with the public, media and key stakeholders. You will play a vital part in producing an increasingly powerful humanitarian communications' response and ensuring that Plan International UK models best practice youth engagement work throughout the organisation.

The experience we are looking for includes:

• Substantial experience in delivering high-profile media and social media activity, targeting a range of audiences
• Demonstrable experience delivering cross-organisational campaigns from strategy to delivery, using a wide range of campaigning techniques to create change and wider support in society
• Managing and positively influencing relationships with existing senior contacts across media, communications agencies, government, NGOs and charities
• Developing a crisis communications strategy and managing communications risk issues

Exposure to humanitarian and international advocacy is desirable but what matters most of all is (apart from your expertise!) is that you are an inspiring people manager with a genuine desire to work with passionate and committed colleagues to make a real difference to the lives of millions of children, especially girls.
