Job Description


The role of the Programming & Partnerships Officer is a unique opportunity to help shape a programme of visitor experiences, participation opportunities and lead on immersive quality interpretation across the Cliveden Portfolio. You'll be creating special moments and memories for our all our visitors, that will continue to grow support of Cliveden and the National Trust for years to come.

Hours: 37.5 hours/ 5 days per week, working hours are flexible between 8am - 6pm. Occasional weekend required to support the visitor operation and evening working to support on events. Working from home is available if needed for 1-2 days per week. Duty Management cover required on a rota basis.

Salary: £20721 per annum

Contract: Permanent role

What it's like to work here:

The Cliveden Estate consists of approximately 80 acres of formal gardens, 300 acres of tranquil woodland, two miles of riverside and the Italianate mansion at the heart of the estate. Cliveden's formal gardens include the Parterre which can be viewed in all its splendour from the terrace looking down towards the River Thames. The Long Garden provides a carpet of colour for spring and summer, and is home to some distinctive topiary. Herbaceous borders around the gardens create a splendid display throughout the summer. Welcoming over half a million visitors a year, you'll enjoy being around people and thrive in a busy working environment. The Cliveden team are close-knit with a wonderful sense of community. Cliveden Estate isn't accessible by any direct public transport, so you'll need your own transport to get here.

What you'll be doing:

Based at the Cliveden Estate you will work closely with our Senior Programming & Partnerships Officer to plan, design, deliver and evaluate all our events and programming throughout the year. You'll develop strong relationships by working collaboratively and proactively across the whole property team. Working in partnership is an important and developing part of this role, through seeking new connections with external partners and organisations to co-produce elements of our engagement programme. Having an eye for detail will be vital in leading for our National Trust brand guidelines to convey Cliveden's unique character and keeping our presentation standards to a high quality, as you will be designing and delivering signage and interpretation across the Cliveden Portfolio, keeping our visitors well-informed and orientated. You'll create a supportive and enthusiastic environment to manage and involve volunteers in every element of the programme, from planning to delivery. As part of the Visitor Operations & Experience team and will be supporting with operational duties like welcoming our visitors and car parking on busy days, alongside covering duty management when needed.

Who we're looking for:

To be successful in this role, you'll have:

  • Experience in directly delivering visitor programmes and/or working with community or commercial partners to deliver events and activities for and with audiences in the heritage or visitor attraction sectors.
  • Experience in building, maintaining and developing partnership relationships in order to offer engagement opportunities to audiences of visitors, volunteers or community participants.
  • A collaborative, empathic approach - able to adapt your plans and style to the needs of partners, team members and audiences
  • Able to measure and evaluate outputs and demonstrate impact
  • Graphic design skills, ideally with previous experience in using the Adobe suite, particularly InDesign, Illustrator or Photoshop
