Find Job

Digital Communications Officer

Job Description

Our trust has around 10,000 staff serving 1.6 million patients. It comprises Barnet Hospital, Chase Farm Hospital, the Royal Free Hospital and more than 30 services in the community. This larger scale organisation provides an unprecedented opportunity for us to continue our pioneering work, particularly in finding ways to deliver even better care to our patients.

The role of communications has never been more important than over the past 18 months - playing a crucial role in the NHS response to the COVID-19 pandemic. At the Royal Free London, the communications team has been integral to the trust's handling of the pandemic, sharing our story with the public and keeping our amazing NHS staff fully informed so they can do their jobs to the best of their ability.

In the past 18 months, our busy communications team has risen to the challenge - delivering far-reaching communications campaigns using a variety of channels, including newsletters, daily news stories, live Q&As, staff insights, social media and a magazine for staff, patients, members and supporters. With a workforce of 10,000 staff, it is vital that we get our internal communications right. You will play a key role. This is an opportunity to make a real impact on staff - and patient - experience at a critical time.

We're now looking for a new digital communications officer to join our award-winning team. There has never been a better time to join our communications team which was this year recognised at the prestigious Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) Awards - winning the 'Best COVID Response (Public Sector/Charity)' category.

We're looking for a dynamic individual who'll play an integral part in ensuring staff and patients can easily access and find out what is happening across the organisation.

You will be required to work closely with colleagues from all levels of the organisation, advising on digital communications and the post-holder will support other team members to deliver the trust's regular internal and external communications channels.

You'll concentrate on developing and maintaining digital tools to enable us to communicate, effectively with our audiences. You must be able to use content management systems and will be responsible for managing the content on the trust website and intranet keeping the external website updated and enhancing its usability, design and content quality.

This will involve working with digital communications colleagues to launch a new trust website and relaunch the trust intranet in the coming months. You'll also be responsible for delivering patient information in a dynamic and accessible way.

We're one of the NHS's biggest hospital trusts, leading the way on some of the biggest projects in the NHS and our clinical teams continue to deliver UK and world firsts. Got what it takes? We'd love to hear from you.
