Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a creative, proactive and ambitious Communications Officer to join Kinship. This is a fun and fast-paced role in a growing charity. Working across the newly-formed Communications and External Affairs directorate, the Communications Officer will play a pivotal role in supporting with the development and delivery of communications, media, marketing and external affairs strategies and presents an opportunity for an enthusiastic and skilled self-starter in the earlier stages of their career to gain valuable experience across a number of communications disciplines. You’ll support a small communications team to raise the charity’s profile, increase engagement with key audiences, influence change and support the development and stewardship of the organisation’s Kinship Community of kinship carers. This is an exciting time to join Kinship as the organisation grows and develops its next three-year strategy, and you’ll be part of an ambitious, supportive and focused communications and external affairs team working closely with colleagues across the organisation and alongside kinship carers to bring about transformative changes for carers.  You will be a communications professional with some experience working in one or more of the following disciplines: communications, public affairs, marketing or PR/media. You’ll have the desire to work across and develop further across different disciplines in a focused, organised and integrated way. You’ll have the drive to be part of shaping and delivering an ambitious and influential communications and external affairs strategy to grow Kinship’s profile by delivering a range of communications activities and you’ll be strongly committed to Kinship’s values. We will guarantee interviews to any candidates with experience of kinship care (either of being in kinship care or of being a kinship carer) who demonstrate that they meet the essential skills and experience outlined.Location: London office-based, 2-3 days per week, but would consider remote for the right candidate, minus London weighting.Hours: Full-time (flexible, working minimum of 28 hours/per week considered – pro rata)Benefits: 30 days annual leave plus bank holidays (pro rata if part-time) and pension  About Kinship:Kinship is the leading charity in England and Wales for kinship carers – relatives and friends who raise children when their parents aren’t able to.
