Rhondda Cynon Taf Borough Council an area within The South Wales Valleys that prides itself on its Strong Industrial Heritage, has successfully secured a National Lottery Heritage Fund Grant to deliver an exciting new heritage related project themed "The Altered Images".

We are looking to appoint a highly motivated, enthusiastic individual to fill the post of Heritage Project Co-ordinator to drive and deliver this project.

The successful candidate will be inventive and enthusiastic about heritage, leading, coordinating and developing this project to produce information and educational resources for diverse communities/ages to raise awareness of local history/heritage and the memorials and monuments that RCT care for. You will devise and host events that allow people to engage with and experience the heritage of RCT. You will manage, and oversee volunteers involved with this heritage project. You will work with local community and Friends groups to ensure local heritage is highlighted, protected, preserved, and appreciated within the locality.

The post is full time (37 hours) and fixed term for 3 years. You should possess the following skills and experience -

  • Ability to work both on own initiative and as a member of a team.
  • A passion for heritage, cultural and local history.
  • Strong communication, IT, social media, digital engagement facilitation, and presentational skills.
  • Excellent community engagement skills and the ability to work with various diverse teams within the borough.
  • Experience of working with, training, and supporting volunteers.
  • Experience of working on Lottery or Heritage Fund or similar community projects is desirable.
  • Sensitive approach to heritage.
  • Experience of managing allocated budgets as appropriate.
  • Coordinate and facilitate heritage community events.
  • Develop clear and simple monitoring and evaluation techniques
