ActionAid is an international charity that works with women and girls living in poverty. Our dedicated local staff are changing the world with women and girls. We are ending violence and fighting poverty so that all women, everywhere, can create the future they want.

The Head of Media role is key to helping us increase the profile of our vital work, influence for change and bring in new supporters. It combines opportunities to influence the news agenda on multiple issues, to tell amazing stories about the women and girls we work with and also to engage the public through PR and social media.

You will be managing a team of media specialists, covering news, PR, celebrity engagement, social media and crisis comms. It's a busy and varied role, and we are looking for someone equally comfortable responding quickly in a humanitarian disaster and building strong relationships with journalists, celebrities and influencers.

This role will be responsible for developing high-impact media strategies that get cut-through, monitoring and responding to reputational risk, and growing ActionAid's profile so that we become the 'go-to' voice on the rights of women and girls. We are looking for someone with detailed knowledge and demonstrable engagement in current affairs, international development and women's rights issues.

It is important that our Head of Media has proven team management skills, along with the confidence and commitment to set ambitious targets. Great relationship-building and communication skills are also essential, as well as the ability to manage deadlines and rapidly changing priorities.

First interviews will be held on the 22nd of January and second interviews will be held on the 29th of January.
