We are looking for a Project Manager to join our Centre of Excellence to support the successful delivery of the National Trust's strategic ambitions. The team is all about driving excellence in Project and Programme Management across the Trust, improving our organisational capacity and capability to deliver more projects in service of our exciting strategy.

The role has a Trust wide remit and will need to work across all regions and central teams and across other disciplines that play a key role within projects.

This post is contractually based at our offices in Swindon but is currently working remotely. There will be an opportunity to explore and agree remote working arrangements which strike the right balance for you and the Trust. As a guide presence in the office is expected 1-2 days per week.

You will lead and support a key change initiative that contributes to the development of the Trust's project delivery capacity. Working with the Head of Projects & Programmes, the Assistant Director of our National Consultancy and the project management community within the National Trust you'll deliver an integrated, professional project management service. This will include (but may not be limited to): shaping project management roles, embedding new start up processes, leading the development of guidance that supports new delivery initiatives and ways of working, providing high levels of stakeholder management and communications - and where relevant developing knowledge sharing initiatives.

A driven and proactive leader, you're able to manage multi-disciplinary project teams and deliver several projects on time, within budget and to the highest standards. You'll be confident and capable with strong interpersonal skills and a real customer focus, as well as the ability to liaise with staff, suppliers and stakeholders at all levels. You'll also have:

  • Hold an existing project management or programme management qualification Excellent project management experience ideally including managing a wide ranging 'programme' of activity.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • High level project management skills including co-ordination and driving of change.
  • Ability to represent the needs of the project and relate it to the wider context both internally and externally.
  • Facilitation and coaching skills.
  • Proven experience of working with senior stakeholders.
  • Track record of developing and leading change.
  • Experience of communicating large/national programmes and awareness of how these will be received and translated into delivery on the ground
