Job Description

Tradewind Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Media and PR Assistant for Marie Curie. This is a home post role at present and post covid will be based in Lambeth.

We are looking for a conscientious, organised individual to join our busy PR team, in one of the UK's best known charities.

Main duties:

You will ensure the smooth running of the team and be responsible for all press office admin, including the daily collation and dissemination of the charity's media coverage, responding to media enquiries and writing team updates

You will also support the PR team on larger scale PR campaigns, write press releases and have the opportunity to manage the PR for specific projects such as our shops and corporate partners

Knowledge and experience of using Cision/Gorkana is a must have for this position

Accountabilities (Duties & Responsibilities)

  • To help to respond to media enquiries via phone and the PR Team email, ensuing journalists receive a timely and helpful service.
  • To manage press office suppliers on a daily basis (Cision/Gorkana)
  • Compile, manage and update team media lists using Cision/Gorkana
  • Monitor and disseminate, as appropriate, the wider daily news agenda relating to Marie Curie and our work
  • Produce weekly media coverage highlights email, to be issued on time, to relevant teams internally
  • To produce monthly media evaluation reports, using Cision/Gorkana, to inform the charity on PR Team outputs and outcomes
  • Assist in setting up media interviews, photo-calls and events as required
  • Write press releases and copy for the media
  • Producing template press materials for the charity's Regional Community Fundraising Teams and helping to support them in their local PR activities
  • Assist the PR team with sourcing and developing patient and/or carer case studies
  • View, save and review all media coverage for the charity on a daily basis. Proactively identify significant coverage, opportunities and potential reputational risks
  • Disseminate at speed, and under your own initiative, media coverage of interest to the organisation, ensuring relevant staff are aware of media activity
  • Provide admin support to the PR team including arranging meetings, taking minutes, booking travel and processing purchase orders and invoices as required
  • To process requests for nursing representatives for media activity, events and talks
  • To manage small scale media campaigns, as and when needed

Update the online media centre,

  • Manage and update the PR section of the intranet, ensuring content is up to date and helpful
  • Assist in the daily newsdesk rota, responding to the news agenda reactively and proactively
