Studio 3 Arts believes in the power of the arts to allow people of all ages, backgrounds, cultures and protected characteristics to express themselves creatively, by participating in the development of world class arts across a variety of art forms.
Access to the arts is a right, not a privilege and despite these challenging times Studio 3 Arts remains deeply ambitious about its future. We now seek a new Chair of Trustees who will provide outstanding leadership to the Board and the wider organisation.
Our ambitious capital programme will see our current 'community centre' home transformed into a world class arts venue, and therefore our new Chair will need to be able to demonstrate financial literacy and have a strong understanding of governance best practice.
The ideal candidate will have extensive chairing experience and influential communication skills with the ability to build strategic partnerships whilst leading an organisation on the cusp of considerable change.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who loves change; is enthusiastic about the continual development of an organisation into a nationally respected arts hub for the community and arts professionals alike.
Studio 3 Arts by its very nature is a diverse organisation and we welcome and encourage applications from a broad range of backgrounds and experiences.
Remuneration This is a voluntary role and there is no remuneration. Reasonable expenses incurred in the role will be reimbursed in line with the organisation's expenses policy.
Location Generally, meetings are held in Barking. Currently, these are being held remotely online.
Time Commitment There are currently 6 formal Board meetings per year. As the Board expands, this may change. We also have regular sub-committee meetings. Other time commitments will include ongoing liaison with the Chief Executive and other senior staff, as well as attendance at other meetings, such as interview panels and events as required.
