Fixed-term maternity cover for up to 12 months
The Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT) is seeking to appoint an outstanding Brand and Communications Manager on a fixed-term maternity contract for up to one year. We are looking for a skilled professional who will develop and implement UK-wide brand and communications strategies, both externally and internally, and manage our media relations function.
Working closely with the Assistant Director - Communications and Marketing, you will develop and manage a high-level communications strategy and support the achievement of our business objectives to raise the profile of RCOT and the work of our members.
This is an exciting time to join RCOT, as we embark on an organisation-wide, strategic brand refresh. As brand lead, you will engage colleagues and members to ensure buy-in and support for the refreshed brand from all parts of the organisation.
With significant experience at a senior level in a communications or marketing role, you will establish and maintain credibility with colleagues at all levels. You will have devised and implemented brand, communications, and marketing strategies, particularly where that has involved a strategic brand refresh. With experience of leading staff through change programmes, you should also have excellent project management skills, along with a background in working with multi-stakeholder initiatives.
You will be responsible for embedding a newly recruited brand and communications team, so you will need to be a resourceful, resilient and experienced line manager who can lead by example.
A further aspect of your role will be to guide and advise the Business Management Group, Council members and other key stakeholders on how best to present RCOT to the media.
This is an exciting and multi-faceted role which would suit a brand or communications professional with experience of the health, charity or professional association sectors, or with a strong knowledge of the health and social care landscape.
RCOT is the professional body for occupational therapy representing over 33,000 occupational therapists across the UK. Occupational therapists provide life-changing support to people managing illness, injuries and a wide range of physical and mental health conditions. Uniquely, they enable people to carry out daily activities ('occupations') which are essential for health and happiness. This vital care helps people recover and build new skills to enjoy a full and independent life.
RCOT plays a crucial role in setting and raising standards, campaigning to raise the profile of occupational therapy and the value its members deliver, supporting members' development and influencing policy.
