Senior Brand Strategy Manager

This role plays a key strategic role in the Group Brand and Marketing Team to build and protect the Barclaycard brand. The role will build equity for the Barclaycard brand, by defining a compelling and motivating global Barclaycard brand strategy in line with the Barclaycard business strategy, providing brand strategy expertise across the organisation to support the deployment of the brand strategy in key group and/or business unit projects; and helping lead the translation of the brand strategy into an impactful, distinctive and differentiating brand expression.

Whilst the key focus of the role is on the Barclaycard brand, the role holder will also have the opportunity to work on Barclays brand strategic projects.

Your Role

Brand strategy

  • Lead, with support from the Group Brand Strategy Director, the development of a clear, meaningful and motivating Barclaycard brand strategy
  • Manage brand architecture developments for the Barclaycard brand and embed and oversee branding principles to deploy the architecture
  • Work collaboratively with the Insights team to ensure effective brand evaluation of our brand strategy, evaluate performance and identify opportunities to more effectively deliver the brand strategy and build long term brand equity
  • Develop brand planning approach for the Barclaycard brand that is evidenced based.

Brand strategy consultancy

  • Provide valuable brand consultancy to lead the brand across key strategic group or business unit projects that build the brand to build the business
  • Provide brand strategy expertise and support across the organisation in the deployment of the Barclaycard brand strategy to relevant teams and areas

Strategic brand expression

  • Support in translating the Barclaycard brand strategy into impactful, coherent, distinctive and differentiating brand expression (how Barclaycard looks, feels and sounds) that is fit for purpose and meets the commercial needs of the business
  • Support the embedding of the brand expression in collaboration with the Brand Management Team

Essential Skills

  • Agency/client side brand strategy or marketing strategy experience
  • Excellent brand technical skills with a sound knowledge of and enthusiasm for digital applications (web/mobile/social) and emerging technologies
  • Excellent relationship and influencing skills
  • Strong communication skills - verbal and written

Desirable Skills

  • Experience working with brand agencies
  • Sound project management and planning skills
  • Knowledge of Barclays IT systems/operations and processes
  • Degree qualified
